How to Save Money on the Halloween Fun

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Dollar General. All opinions are 100% mine.

Halloween is right around the corner. We are so excited to be able to dress up, get out and have some spooky fun. We love to go up to my mom’s neighborhood because there are lots of house to visit. Everyone in the neighborhood gets very into Halloween. They get dressed up, hang outside and really have fun. There are even pets who get into the act. Some of them even make haunted houses, perfect for my little ones.

Moms house decorated for Halloween.

You can’t see all the lights but the night-time pictures do not show up as well.

The neighborhood is very big. Which means a lot of candy. A whole lot of candy. My mom has been known to spend close to $50 on candy. Plus she decorates the house, her yard, her porch and she dresses up the pup.
Angel Puppy as a pumpkin

We have found a way to save a boat load on great candy, decorations and treats for the whole family, including the pup. Dollar General has everything we need to make Halloween and every holiday great. With awesome recipe ideas, great Halloween decorations, great deals and even coupons, it can’t be beat.

Tips to Save Money Towards College

$
0

Thank you to Campus Book Rental for sponsoring this post about ways to save money for college because Campus Book Rental knows just how expensive college can be. All thoughts are always my own.

I can not believe my son is going to college in a few months. And my other son, is heading off the year after him. It tends to feel a little overwhelming. I didn’t go off to college. I took some classes at towards an associates but never finished. My husband never went at all. So we are kind of making it up as we go along. To make it worse, we were not always financially stable and never started a college savings account for the kids. It is something that bothers me, but it is what it is. The good thing is I know that there are ways to help make the payments for school a little easier.

Tips to Save Money Towards College

1. Start now: Just because you haven’t saved anything in the past, and college is only a few months away. There is still time. Every little bit helps. Try to save aggressively but even if you only manage to get $100, that is still $100, interest free, towards the bill

2. Go local. Many kids dream of going away to school, but most schools offer their state residents a discount. The discount in the credits can really add up, especially over years. I wouldn’t say it is worth going to an school that is “inferior” in the field, but if it close or equal, sometimes it is worth it.

3. Apply, Apply, Apply. Look for those scholarships. There are so many scholarships and grants available. For all kinds of reasons. All you have to do it apply. It is time to hustle it.Find your angle and work it. My son had the idea of I just won’t get a scholarship because I don’t do sports and I am not at the top of the class. You can win just for being creative. Get online and get started.

4. Financial Aid: Even if you only qualify for a small amount, again, it is a small amount that does not carry debt or interest. Be sure to file early so that you know where your starting point is.

5. Rent those books: When I was going to school, it was completely covered by financial aid, but those books pushed me over the top. I paid a small fortune in books, that the school wouldn’t even buy back at the end of the semester because the books were upgraded and to the ones I was using were no longer any good. If only I had known about Campus Book Rental. I could have saved, 40-90%. That is a difference between eating top ramen every day and maybe being able to add in some cheeseburgers.

What makes Campus Book Rentals a great program besides the money you can save, is that free shipping both ways, you can still highlight in the text books and there is flexible renting periods. My favorite thing about Campus Book Rental is that with every book rented, they donate a portion to Operation Smile. Operation Smile is an international children’s medical charity that performs safe, effective cleft lip and cleft palate surgery, and delivers postoperative and ongoing medical therapies to children in low and middle income countries. So you are saving money plus helping kids in need.

Campus Book Rentals has a new program. RentBack is new initiative that lets students rent the textbooks they own. They can rent to other students which is awesome because it makes them 2-4x more money compared to what they’d make through buyback options!

Where are you in the “How am I going to pay for college?” scenario?

This is a sponsored conversation. All thoughts are my own. #Alb2xdip

Everyone feels the crunch during the holidays. There is special food to buy for big holiday meals. There are all the gifts to buy. There are special decorations. For some people there is also traveling involved. It leaves everyone saying the same thing: There has to be a way to get more for the money I have.

Stretching Your Shoping Dollars This Holiday

1. Shop Deals: Everyone knows that this time of year is full of deals. No one wants to look for them. But it worth the money. Either sign up for emails from your favorite stores or use the deal site sites to find the best deal on things you want to buy.

2. Use cash back sites: There are loads of sites online that will actually pay you for shopping through them. You get a portion of what you bought as a credit or an actual refund. These sites usually promote deals in addition to the cash back, so it will save you even more.

3. Use promotions from your local stores. For example, starting Black Friday through December 2nd, when you shop at Albertson, you can save a lot of money while getting your holiday shopping done. Buy $100 in select gift cards, and get a $20 coupon for your next shopping trip of $50 or more. Use that coupon towards buying the groceries for you holiday dinner. Participating gift cards include: Applebee’s, iTunes, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Lowes, IHOP and SpaFinder. All of these make a great gift idea for everyone.

4. Take advantage of credit card rewards: Use your favorite credit card that offer rewards to purchase the
gift cards, and you can earn points, miles or a percentage back on your purchase. (Of course, be sure to pay the balance off so that you do not lose what you saved in credit card interest.) Some credit cards even offer increased rewards for purchases made at grocery!

Now at Albertsons you can save up to $23 when you buy $100 or more in select gift cards! Here’s how:

Promotional Offer: Now through 12/2, buy $100 or more in select gift cards, and get a $20 coupon good for your next trip! (Note – you have to buy at least $50 in groceries to redeem it.) Participating gift cards include: Applebee’s, iTunes, MasterCard, Visa, American Express, Lowes, IHOP and SpaFinder.
Any “variable” gift cards from these brands count too, and you can add any amount you want up to $500!
Credit Card Rewards: By using your favorite rewards credit card to purchase gift cards, you can earn points, miles or a percentage back on your purchase. Some credit cards even offer increased rewards for purchases made at grocery!

Let’s see how it adds up:

$20 off: your next $50 grocery purchase when you purchase $100 in the gift cards noted above
$3 back: If you earn 3% on grocery purchases through your credit card rewards program

(Head to the store for full details!)

As a bonus to help out the holidays, here is a chance to win a $200 Amazon Gift Card.

How to Save up with ease before Summer Holiday

$

0

Even though summer is still far away, you should already start to think about saving money before the summer holiday strikes. Whether it’s visiting Hawaii, going on safari in Africa, snorkeling on the Great Barrier Reef, or just going camping to the neighboring state, your next trip will definitely cost more money that you expect. Hence, it is wise to save as much as possible before you leave in order to get the peace of mind that your budget is enough for additional expenses.

In order to save money for your holiday vacation, you need to carefully consider your budget and assess any potential costs.

Holiday Costs and Budgeting

The total cost of your holiday mainly depends on a few factors:

– Travel insurance
– Airfares
– Sites admission
– Accommodation
– Food
– Souvenirs
– Extra money in case of emergencies or unexpected situations
– more

You need to carefully plan your budget. Cut back on monthly spending in order to make sure you will have enough money for the trip. Look for savings in your restaurant meals, entertainment costs, Starbucks coffee, clothes and takeaway lunches.

Here are some extra tips to help you save even more before summer holiday.

Savings Tips for your Summer Vacation

-Read online for money-saving tips that will help save money to travel more. Reading what works others can give you a great idea what might work for you.

– Set up a savings account.
To grow your savings and make sure that happens regularly, you need to think of a way to put your money where it will earn interest. A savings account or a term deposit should do. The fact of the matter is that these accounts will give you a much higher interest rate than standard transaction accounts. Interest rates, however, is not going to be great and the reason for the savings account is that this should make it more difficult for you to spend your savings elsewhere. Just think, if you put aside $300 per month, at the beginning of the summer you will already have more than $1,500 ready for your trip.

– Less Starbucks, KFC and the likes.
Try to cook more instead of eating out on a regular basis. Of course, sometimes you just need to have fun with your friends or have a business meeting. In this case, KFC or Starbucks is another story. In all other cases, eating out or drinking an expensive coffee may only slow down your efforts to save money for your summer vacation.

– Make the most of coupons and promo codes.
When buying something online, do not forget to capitalize on coupons and discounts. You can save up to 30% or more on every single purchase, which translates into savings of tens of dollars on a monthly basis. It may be a good idea to visit websites devoted to saving tips and couponing like discountrue.com where you can get more advice on the subject of using coupon codes and frugal lifestyle.

-Start planning your trip now
It is best to book or buy tickets to your destination well ahead of time and get massive discounts before the ticket prices go up. When checking for flights and reservations, look for the cheapest deals out there. Online travel sites such as cheaptickets.com or lastminutetravel.com can be extremely helpful for you. It is similar with the hotel booking. Stay at hotels that offer free accommodation for kids under 12: certain hotel chains, such as Ramada Inn, Holiday Inn and Wyndham Hotels and Resorts, offer free accommodation and meals for kids under 12. Always check the “Specials” page of any hotel website to find out if you are eligible for this amazing offer.

– Get the whole family involved.
Once everyone is involved in the money-raising process, it will be much easier for you to raise up money for your summer holiday. You can even make it become a whole family mission. This may even change the way your whole family experiences the holiday or even set a great example for the future of your family budget.

Saving is not such a daunting task, especially if you make sure to put aside all spare money. You can use a jar for change and a bank account for the real money. If the whole family is involved, you will end up having stronger relationships, and your holiday will certainly be successful.

Budgeting 101- Easy Budget Tips

$
0
0

Budgeting. It’s tough. There’s so much to think about, and if you let it, it can overwhelm you. That’s why I’m here with a little budgeting 101 to help you get on track with your paycheck.

Budgeting 101- Easy budget tips

Things to Consider When Budgeting

This will be pretty much the bulk of this budgeting 101 crash course. There are some things you need to think about when you’re budgeting. There are some decisions to be made to help your financial health that just absolutely suck, but you still have to do them. I know this from experience.

Do You Need It

First and foremost, when you approach a budget is asking yourself what you need, what you want, and how badly you want it. Budgeting doesn’t require you to give up everything you love, but it does require you to give up some of what you love.

Budgeting is all about making sure you have enough to live on and to be prepared for the future. Depending on your finances, that may mean a lean budget or a budget that’s a little more lenient. Always remember this when you’re giving up something you really like. It’s not REALLY worth a skimpy retirement or college money for the kids.

So you have to ask yourself, “Do I need this?” If the answer is no, ask yourself, “How badly do I want this?” If it’s something you just can’t live without, then table it for working it into the budget after living expenses and savings have been covered. That’s the name of the budgeting game – rearranging, cutting, and adding. You do that until you’ve got a budget that meets all of your needs and some of your wants.

Pay Yourself First

After your needs are addressed, and before you look at your wants, pay yourself. After you take out what you’ll need for bills in your monthly budget, set aside a percentage – the more the better – for savings. This can go towards a savings account, a 401K, a rainy day fund, or all of those. That’s why I said the more the better. The point is that you don’t want to blow through a paycheck without setting aside something for yourself down the line.

Make Those Cuts

This is the part of budgeting that just sucks. I know because I’ve had to do it. You have to make cuts to get the most out of that paycheck. Do you REALLY need to grab that $5.00 cup of coffee every single day? Probably not. Stop eating out so much. If you have Netflix, why are you paying for cable? These are just some of the tough questions and the tough cuts you’ll have to make. I know. It’s no fun.

These simple steps are the key to getting started on your budgeting journey. It isn’t nearly everything you’ll need to think about, but hey, this is budgeting 101, no a week long course. Just following these budgeting guidelines, and you’ll be well on your way!

Get Your Online Web Store Today

$

If you’ve recently launched your website for your business, it’s time to take things to the next level. Whether you realize it or not, the fact that you have a presence on the web means that your business will no longer be purely local.

Even if you have a brick and mortar store in a rural location in Kansas, there are still people in Indonesia or Poland who will be able to view your website. More importantly, many people in foreign countries will be wondering if they, too, can purchase your goods and services.

Maximize Your Profits With A Web Store

If your business website is up and running, now is the time to take things to the logical next level. You’ll need to install a fully operational ecommerce store in order to allow your customers to purchase goods and services directly over the Internet. All they need is a credit card or a Paypal account to send you money. The sooner your web store is installed, the sooner you can sit back and watch the money roll in.

What Exactly Is A Web Store?

A web store is an installation on your website that, as stated above, allows customers to order goods and services directly from you. They simply punch in their credit card or Paypal account, and then receive a confirmation email from your site that their selected goods or services are on their way.

The entire operation, if performed correctly, is a matter of several clicks on your website. First, customers choose the goods or services they are looking for. They can proceed directly to “check out”, meaning directly to the store itself. Or, they can stow certain items in the online “shopping cart” that your website has provided, while they go looking for other items.

So Why Do You Need A Web Store?

If you’ve read this far, the advantages of featuring an online web store on your site should be transparently obvious. But, should you still need a solid argument to convince you, consider this: Of all the millions of people who might view your website tomorrow, how many of them are sitting there thinking, “Wow, this merchandise looks fantastic! I just wish there was a way to purchase it without traveling 10,000 miles across the globe!”

In other words, if you don’t have a web store installed on your site, you’re losing money – and lots of it- every single day. Meanwhile, your competition is leaving you behind.

Network Solutions: Your Source For Web Store Installation

Network Solutions has garnered an extremely enviable record of top notch quality and excellent customer service. Since the early days of the world wide web, few companies have done more to satisfy the needs of their customers. If you’re ready to install a web store on your site, and need to get it up and running in the shortest possible amount of time, call on Network Solutions to get the job done.

Ahh, and college is starting soon

This is a sponsored post from Campus Book Rental, a great way to save money on college. As always, all thoughts are my own.

It is about to be a big time around the 6 Pack. Anthony graduated from high school last year and is looking at his first year of college. Joey is starting his senior of high school. Serenity is starting in the middle school for 6th grade and Willow is starting in kindergarten. Did you catch that? I have a kid in every single school. One starting college and one starting kindergarten. That is a tremendous gap. It is an expensive gap.

School starts soon. Kids are off to college? Everyone needs to save money on college

Thankfully I have learned some great ways to save money on things that the kids need for school. I have been able to find great deals on school supplies. I can find great deals on clothes. Being a part of the blogging community has helped me find blogs that can lead me in the right direction when it comes to saving some serious cash. Another great way to save money, that works if you have kids in college, or if it is you in college, or even kids taking college classes, is using Campus Book Rental.

I remember when I was taking college classes. I bought a ton of books and they told me I can sell them back at the end of the year. Each book was over $200 a piece but I felt better that I’d get something back for them later on. Here is the problem. At least 3 of those books were retired at the end of the year. That means, they do not buy them back. Guess who was out of luck. I ended up not getting any money back, AND I had to find a way to recycle these books, because I can’t just throw them away.

Campus Book Rental is a site where you can go on, rent the books you need for the semester and then mail them back when your class is over. That in itself sounds nice but also:

  • save 40-90% off of bookstore prices
  • free shipping both ways
  • can highlight in the textbooks
  • flexible renting periods
  • But my favorite of all is that they give back. They donate to Operation Smile with each textbook rented

Campus Book Rental is a great way to save money on college. Now I need to start looking for the rest of my deals for school. How do you save money for school?

Ways to Save Money On Road Trips

$

This is a sponsored conversation from #Snackation. All thoughts are my own.

We have less than 2 weeks my kids will be heading back to school. I can not believe that summer have flown by so fast. Since we are trying to squeeze in as much fun as possible before the school schedule starts, we are planning at least one more road trip.

The problem is, with the time of year it is, where we need to back to school clothes and back to school supplies, money gets kind of tight. I need to find ways to save on my “Before Summer Ends” Road trips.

Ways to Save Money On Road Trips

1. Plan to stay local: Make your road trip a day trip. If you can cut out the need for a hotel room, you can squeeze in more road trips. Plan to go somewhere that is with in a few hours drive. That way, once you are there, you can have plenty of time to play and check everything out, and then still have enough time to drive home.

camping mysnackation.com

2. Camp: If you are going to be further than you can go for the day, think about camping. Camping is a cheap way to stay the night, enjoy the outdoors and still stay on your budget. There are some places that even let you camp for free. Many sites you have to pay for are usually around $20 a night for the camp site. Build a fire, roast some hot dogs and marshmallows and the kids will have a great time. Plus, your wallet will be happy too.

mysnackation.com

3. Buy snacks a head of time: Walmart has a great selection of snacks. We love grabbing Smuckers Fruit Fulls and Jif To Go packs. We pack apples, celery and carrots in snack bags and pair them with these fruit sauce packs and peanut butter cups. We give each of the kids their own lunch box, including a water bottle or juice pack. It is a great way to save money when the kids start in with their usual, “I’m Hungry!”

4. Cheap entertainment: Keep the kids happy in the car, and out of your hair. While you are at Walmart getting your snacks, look at the budget section of the toys. There are usually lots of fun toys that are under $5. Keep them separate from the kids’ other toys and they stay special. There are great little packs that have crayons and coloring sheets in them. The kids can stay happy in the cars for hours. We like to keep everything in a special bag, from their snacks to toys.

We are planning out next trip over the next few days, as soon as this heat wave breaks. We will be bringing along our bags packed with snacks and toys. What ways do you save money on a last minute road trip to get the most out of summer?

Time to Buy a Car

$

0

You know you want to get a new car soon. It could be because yours in on its last leg or just because your current car no longer meets your needs. Whatever the reason, if you can control when you are car shopping, it can actually turn out to save you money.

At the end of the day: Just like everyone else, a salesman wants to leave at the end of the day. But even with that, they are not about to let a sale walk out the door just because it is late in the day. Shoppers can often negotiate a better deal later in the day, and provided that the dealer knows that you truly want to buy a car.

At the end of the month or quarter: Many salesmen work on commission, but they are also expected to sell a certain amount of cars. Towards the end of the month, a good salesman might be a little short of his goal. To help you choose to buy your car from them, a dealership may be able to offer even greater discounts to get you into a car during that reporting period.

There are more times that are best to buy a car. Read them in the rest of my article at Lynch Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram

Saving on Back to School School Supplies and Reading

This post is sponsored by the Barnes & Noble MasterCard, powered by Barclaycard. All opinions are my own.

B&N Mastercard, save on school supplies (11)

With the kids starting back to school, we are starting to get the kids their school supplies. Have you ever noticed how freaking expensive they are. It is kind of crazy. The back to school supplies have costed me a small fortune. It isn’t that each item needed is expensive, it is that there are so many items needed.

B&N Mastercard, save on school supplies (10)

Every time I start to think that back to school for the younger kids is expensive, I remember how much it is for college and buying text books. Average cost for books and supplies last year was $1,225 at public colleges and $1,244 at private colleges, according to The College Board’s Trends in College Pricing Report. That is just a crazy amount to even imagine.

Barnes&NobleMC_rRGB

The best thing I can do is try to save money on school supplies for the younger kids and my older kids the best way I can. My girls love the book selection when we shop at Barnes & Noble. The hardest part about it, picking which books they are going to get. There is nothing like being able to reach out and grab a book off the shelf that has grabbed your attention. I think it can make a big difference in kids getting excited to read.

You never know when an accident happens

A few years ago, we were really strapped. We were in a bad financial situation. My (then) husband was out of work and was trying to get a job as quickly as he could. I was supporting the family with just the money I was making from The 6 Pack and at the time, that wasn’t more than fun money. We had gone through our  savings and we weren’t even living paycheck to pay check because there was no paycheck. My point is, we were broke and there was no wiggle room at all.

Jim was able to find some work as a temp. We thought for sure that it was going to be exactly what we needed. I would still be doing what I was doing and making some extra money, but at least now there would be a set paycheck coming into the house so that we could get back to being caught up.853685690_7a8360e2ac_z

After little over a week on the job, Jim got hurt. He got hurt really bad. He injured his knee to the point that he couldn’t walk or even barely stand and there was no way for him to work. So the job that was supposed to help us get back on our feet, just took the feet right out from under us, kind of literally.

While we would receive money from workman’s comp during the time that Jim was injured, which turned out to be close to a year before he could get back to work, the amount was so small that it barely paid for groceries in our large family. There were times that I didn’t know what we were going to do, because even with his injuries, he had trouble helping with the kids, which meant I couldn’t leave the to go to a job everyday.

So what is my point? It didn’t take much to leave us between a rock and a hard place. Most people are living from paycheck to paycheck, no matter what the situation. If you get injured or have a long term illness, you could be facing medical bills and house hold bills that you are worried about how you are going to pay them.

Aflac Logo

A-F-L-A-C (in my best ducky voice) Did you just hear the duck waddle past you quacking Aflac at you. Well you should. Right now is open enrollment for most U.S. companies. That means it is a time for workers to review their employer-sponsored benefits offerings and choose the health insurance policies that best meet their financial and health care needs. Here’s the problem. Although selecting the right health care benefits may be one of the most important decisions Americans will make all year, an Aflac survey found that many workers do very little research to learn which plans and products really work best for them. So much so, that 34% of employees spent 15 minutes or less researching which plan was best for them and their families in 2014. If you don’t do your research you could end up with inadequate health care protection for yourself and your families.

It is important to look into the voluntary polices, which complement major medical coverage,  that your work has to offer. If there is an unforseen medical event, you could be facing co-payments, deductibles and even treatment that are not covered by your insurance. Plus, these events can easily keep you from working. How are you going to cover your daily living expenses plus pay for the treatments you need. It can be a stressful situation to deal with. According to a recent Aflac survey, 66 percent of workers would not be able to adjust to the large financial costs associated with a serious injury or illness, and 49 percent have less than $1,000 on hand to pay out-of-pocket medical expenses.

Be sure to look at your open enrollment packet this fall. Be sure to check to make sure that you have the coverage that you need.

I love Groupon. It has been a great way for me to save money on the experiences I want to give the kids, and myself, but also on some of the things we need to have everyday anyway, like hair cuts. What I am loving even more is Groupon’s new service, Groupon Coupons.

Save Money on Teacher Gifts

This is a sponsored post. All thoughts are my own.

Teachers can be so hard to shop for. Honestly, everyone wants to give the teacher a present because of how hard they work to teach the kids, but other than the classic coffee cup or ornament, how do you know what else to buy them. When I was teaching in daycare, I always appreciated the gifts, but there are only so many coffee cups a woman can use. That is why I always recommend a gift card for teachers. Spruce it up with a candy tin or a cute gift basket. Give a movie gift card with a gift card to go out to dinner so the teacher can make a night out of it. However you give it,  gift cards are always a safe bet.

Depending on how many kids you have and how many teachers they have, giving gift cards to teachers can add up and sometimes, at the holidays, you just don’t have that much extra money around. There is an easy way to give gift cards this holiday and even save some money doing it.
Save Money on Teacher Gifts

When you buy gift cards at your local Martins, Stop & Shop or Giant food store you can save yourself some money on what you are buying anyway. Before you shop, dine or even hit the town, you can save up to 12%. From now until 12-3 shoppers can double dip on their gift card purchases.

Here’s how:

Earn 4x the fuel points on gift cards through the stores loyalty program.

Earn Credit Card Rewards. By using your favorite rewards credit card to purchase the gift cards, you can earn points, miles or a percentage back on the purchase. Some cards even increase the rewards for purchases made at the grocery store. Like the Blue Everyday® Card from American Express offers 3% cash back on groceries, and the Blue Cash Preferred® Card offers a whopping 6% cash back! Capital One QuicksilverOne®, AMEX EveryDay® and Citi® Hilton HHonors credit cards also offer increased rewards for grocery purchases.
So by buying a $100 gift card, you get $6 in fuel rewards on a 15 gallon tank ($.40 * 15) which is like getting $6 back. If you use a credit card that give 6% cash back on grocery purchases that means in all you get $12 in savings on something that you were going to buy anyway. That could be another present right there.

So you have been wracking your brain on what to give to some of the people on your gift list and you can’t think of anything that they would like or that they don’t already have. That is when you decide that you are just going to go with a gift card to their favorite store. There is nothing wrong with that, because then you know they are getting something that they are going to love. But I am going to let you in on a secret that is going to let you save some money. Cardpool.

Cardpool is a place that you can buy gift cards that other people are selling. It is a way to save some money on gift cards because they are being sold at a discount. I wanted to give my boyfriend movie tickets for a present this year. He is always complaining that when we go to the movies it costs us an arm and a leg. And it does. Have you been to the movies lately? Yeah, it can add up. So with giving him a Fandango card, it means he can’t complain about the cost of the tickets. But I can tell him it was even better than that. By using Cardpool, I was able to save 19% on the gift card. That means the $30 in gift cards that I bought, only cost me $24.30. That is a pretty big savings.

cardpool

They have all kinds of cards available too. There are stores that you shop at all the time. Stores that make great gifts. No matter what kind of card you are looking for, there is a way to save money.

Another way to save using Cardpool is to buy the gift cards to the stores you are going to need to buy presents at. Then you can use the gift cards to buy the gifts you want to give. This saves you money even when you aren’t giving the gift cards as a gift.

how cardpool works

Cardpool even goes one step further in ways to help you out. You can sell unwanted gift cards on Cardpool. You can even sell partially used gift cards. It is an easy way to get some extra cash towards Christmas presents. Then after Christmas, think about those random gift cards that you get. The ones that you will never use. Use Cardpool to get some of the money for them.

Just in time for Christmas, you can enter to win one of 10 $50 Cardpool e-gifts.

Save Money on a New Car

For some people they just love getting a new car. For others, getting a new car is a necessity. It doesn’t matter why you have started looking for a new car, you do know that you want to get the best price you can for the new car. If you can control when you do you car shopping, and new car buying, you can, often times, save yourself a good deal of money.

save money on a new car

End of the Year: This is a great time to buy a new car. At the end of the year, all makes and models of cars, new and used, drop in price value. It is just the name of the game. As cars age, with the exception of classics, the car loses value, even if the car’s mileage and condition has not changed. Customers can take advantage of these 2 reasons to get a great deal on a new car or truck.

End of Season: There really is a season for cars. In the late Summer and the early Fall, dealerships want to clear the space so that they can make room for the newest models coming onto the lot. Once the dealerships know what inventory is coming to their lots, they know what they need to move off the lot. This is when the big sales and deals are rolled out. Buyers can take advantage of the this time of year to get a brand new car for last year’s prices.

Tax Season: Dealerships know that around tax season, people have larger amount of money on hand, that is extra to their budget. Many dealerships use this to their advantage to offer deals and sales to get people onto their lots. You can use this to save big on your next new car.

End of the Month or Quarter: Since may salespeople work on commission, they are expected to sell a certain amount of cars and trucks each month. If they are short come the end of the sales reporting time frame, they will often times give greater discounts to help you be more willing to buy a vehicle from them during that sales reporting time.

End of the Day: By the end of the day, everyone is tired of their job. They are ready to go home and relax. But a good salesperson will stay and help you explore your options even if it is at the end of the day. You can use this to your advantage and negotiate a better deal, as long as the dealer knows that you are, in fact, serious about buying a car that day.

True, you might not always be able to choose exactly when you buy your next car, but Metro Kia Atlanta, The New Kia dealer in Atlanta, Georgia wants you to know the tips to get your next Kia at the best price available.

How to Get the Best Deal on a New Car

Buying a new car is one of the most expensive things that we do with ourselves. Next to a mortgage, cars are the biggest biters out of the budget. So we are all looking for a way to get the biggest bang for the buck. Here are a few ways to get a great new car and get to most for your money.

Get the best deal on a new car

  1. Figure out what you need and how much you can spend. Be realistic before you even start to look for a car. What are the things you have to have in a new car? Are you worried about the amount of space you need, the amount of storage or the amount of seats? Are the extras really important to you or can you do with less luxury? Once you know that, look at what you can get with how much you can truly spend. Figure your absolute top amount you can spend and stick with it. Then look around for what falls in that price range.
  2. Think about long term costs: Every car has long term costs. Some have more than others. Does the car have high gas mileage? Are the parts expensive? How often is it known to break down once it reaches a certain amount of miles? These things all add up. Depending on the make and model it can add up to a lot. Also, some cars cost more in insurance than others. Take these things into consideration when thinking about how much you will be paying each month.
  3. Fuel Efficiency: Some cars get great gas mileage. Some cars, not so much. Oftentimes, the cars that have the better fuel efficency have a higher price tag. Sometimes, these cars save you more money everyday. Figure out how much you drive and how much the new car will save you or cost you in gas compared to another less expensive car. Sometimes what you save in gas adds up to more or equal to what you would save with a less expensive car.
  4. Resale value: Some cars have a higher resale value than others. Are you planning on driving the new car until it dies or do you plan on trading in down the road? Depending on the answer, you should take it into consideration the resale value when buying that new car. Jeeps, like the ones sold at York Chrysler Dodge Jeep, maintain their resale value. This is one of the many reasons that Jeep owners love their Jeeps. They know that when they want to upgrade to another Jeep, they will get top dollar for their trade in or sale.
  5. Think about Interest Financing: The financing on your car loan can determine a lot about how much you will pay for your car. Search for the lowest interest rate you can find. Look around for lender’s best rates for your credit history. Consult the automobile’s websites to see if one or more cut-rate financing deals are being offered. Sometimes offers can be as low as 0%, for flawless credit.
  6. Look for Incentives: Many dealerships offer incentives for purchasing your new car from them vs another dealership. Plus, many automobile companies offer deals and incentives to buy their brand vs another. Look to see if there are any deals, incentives or rebates that can help lower the cost of your car.
  7. Haggle: This is an area that many, like me, struggle with. You might be able to find a great deal online but the only way to get the best deal is through haggling. Getting in front of the salesperson and talking one on one. Picking through the nitty gritty to get the best deal possible. If you are like me, you might be leaving great price cuts laying on the table.

Getting the best deal isn’t as overwhelming or hard as it might seem. Start checking and see what you find. Then go from there.
